ALBANIA IN MOURNING
Silence, pain, respect
In the evening in Vlorë, the lifeless bodies of the victims of the Otranto tragedy
How heavy it was, not only for Vlorë and the families of the victims, but for the entire Albanian nation.
Hundreds of tears fell and made the city’s largest square the most sorrowful and silent place.
Frozen eyes. The pain of human loss.
Everyone has gathered with the will to pay an unprecedented tribute to this tragedy.
Vlorë and hundreds of families are carried along by grief to the shore.
The hero of the technical government, Bufi(?), tried with a faint voice to offer condolences; the bard(?) called the pain the greatest that would be borne and carried to a shore of Vlorë.
Like many others who had gone before them, they too came with a hope and a faith, pale yet full of soul.
But after hours of waiting, to honor the frightened Death, to share the groan and the pain, to stop the peaceful order?
Silent and alike at this moment, dozens of coffins descended along this shore with people, young and children, Albanians and foreigners.
But people are with fewer words and more only at the grave, in order to put an end to the hopes that bound them to the living.
At the funeral ceremony of the procession, the Italian Deputy Prime Minister Veltroni, the Albanian Fino, and other Italian and Albanian personalities took part.
